Steve Pearce BA (Hons) FCA

Steve moved to North Devon in 1983 joining Ernst & Whinney from Price Waterhouse, Manchester. A founder partner of Glover Pearce & Ross and has served a number of terms as a Non-Executive Director of both Northern Devon Healthcare Trust and North Devon Primary Care NHS Trust. He is also a past chairman of North Devon Chamber of Commerce Ltd as well as former Treasurer of Bideford Chamber and North Devon Manufacturers’ Association, and served as a Governor of Bideford Community College for over 15 years.

Brian Ross BA (Hons) FCA

Having qualified with Deloitte Haskins & Sells’ London office, Brian joined Ernst & Whinney’s north Devon office in 1984, attaining senior manager status with the firm. In 1989, the firm became Ernst & Young and in 1990 Glover Pearce & Ross was formed on acquiring the North Devon offices of Ernst & Young. He was a founder trustee of the North Devon Theatres’ Trust responsible for the Queens Theatre in Barnstaple and the Landmark in Ilfracombe. He has been an active executive member and Treasurer of the Barnstaple Chamber of Commerce and is heavily involved with the local Rotary Club.

Kevin Salter FCA CTA (Fellow)

Kevin has been in north Devon all his working life, qualifying with Barrow Bartlett & Stanbury and becoming a partner in that firm in 1982. His firm merged with Glover Pearce & Ross in 1997. He is a committee member of the Information Technology Faculty of the ICAEW, appointed in June 1997, and a member of the Institute of Taxation. He is a past member and past president of Barnstaple Lions Club.

Kevin is also IT Director of 2020 Innovation Group Ltd, a company providing added value tools and services to the accountancy profession. Fellow directors are Chris Frederiksen, Gordon Gilchrist and Ian Fletcher, three of the biggest names in the industry.

He was voted “Best Chartered Accountant in Practice” in the ICAEW South West Regional Awards 2006 and also made the shortlist again in 2007.

Martin Chance B A (Hons) FCA

Having qualified with an international firm of Chartered Accountants, Martin moved to a small firm in the West Country in 1984 before joining Ernst & Whinney. Martin became a partner in Glover Pearce & Ross in 1995 and is actively involved in the commercial life of Bideford, being a Past President and past Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Rotary club of Bideford and is currently a governor of Petroc (the former North Devon College) and previously of a local infants school.

Nigel Bennett FCA

Nigel joined the firm in 1988 having been educated in North Devon at Park School and North Devon College. He qualified in 1992 with Glover Pearce & Ross and was invited to join the partnership in January 2004.

Mark Shute BA (Hons) ACA

Mark joined the firm in 1993 after completing a degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He qualified in 1997 and became a partner in January 2007.
