HM Revenue & Customs have now opened the claiming system for SEISS, you are able to check if you are eligible by using their online checker tool https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-coronavirus-covid-19-self-employment-income-support-scheme#eligible
Currently, your tax agent cannot make the claim for you, meaning we cannot apply on your behalf, we can of course help you.
Details you will require to make the claim:
Contact us if you are unable to locate 1 or 2 above. However, the biggest issue is likely to be item 3.
If you do not know or don’t have a Government Gateway ID and password, we recommend you apply as soon as possible to avoid delays in receiving payment https://www.gov.uk/log-in-register-hmrc-online-services/register . You may be able to submit a telephone claim (full details not yet published) but this will also lead to delays in payment.
Once you have used the online checker tool and have registered your eligibility for the claim online you will be told the date that you are able to make a claim from. When the claim is submitted you will be told straight away if your claim is approved and it will be paid into your bank account within 6 working days.
You must keep a copy of the amount claimed, the claim reference number and evidence that your business has been adversely affected by the coronavirus. You will need to report the claim on your self assessment tax return. Also you need to state that you are working 16 hours a week for any tax credit claims.
If you are told you are not eligible and think that you should be please contact us for help or ask HMRC to review your eligibility.
